Through the use of acoustic sensors, "air grinding" is kept to a minimum, increasing machine efficiency. At the start of the machine cycle, the sensor "listens" for contact of the wheel to automatically switch the feed rate from rapid approach to first grind speed thereby avoiding collisions (availability of probes, accessories and electrical equipment).
